Ubuntu 7.10

★★★★★ Hey gang!

You have got to try the new Gutsy Gibbon that just came right from Ubuntu’s magical headquarters. I’ve been a Ubuntu fan since 6.04 – before that I was a Gentoo hardcore user and I’ve got to say that right now, this is THE best Linux distribution around.

I mean, the community is great as well as the official support. And they always put together such a nice image and corporate presence that has kept them unite and made them evolve smoothly into Gutsy.

I’m right now on my laptop (a Toshiba Satellitte M40-145, with a dreadful X300 ATI graphics card) and the LiveCD just fully booted up with Compiz and WPA without any need for configuration (these were major problems on several laptops about a year ago). It also comes with full NTFS access, a great desktop search app that provides you local and web search and custom actions and also a X configuration app as well as dynamic screen configuration that allow you to manage screens and screen resolutions on the fly.

Overall, this is a great update to Ubuntu that will surely leverage even more the strength of the Linux community.
