Stolen
Well, I just got my laptop stolen.
It’s an Apple Macbook Pro 15″ and was taken from my car which was left untouched.
Along with other resources, I called Apple Portugal to notify the theft because I heard that if the laptop eventually went for some technical repairs in an Apple Store they could snatch it. They kindly told me that they hadn’t any mechanism of this sort and that I should notify every Apple retailer in the country. Well, thanks a lot.
Here’s its serial number: W874325YXAG. It isn’t much, but what harm can it do?
I’d like to think that this is some sort of a lesson to learn, although I doubt it very much.

Os meu sentimentos é frustante.
Já agora, deixou-o no habitáculo ou na mala? Se deixou na mala é possivel aceder a mala através do habitáculo?
Costumo deixar o meu na mala, parece-me mais seguro pelo facto de ser dificil de aceder a mala através do habitáculo. Claro que ha sempre um botão escondido no mesmo que abre a mala, mas espero que se algum dia houver ladrão este não o encontre pelo menos.

Alcides, já contactei e penso que já foi anunciado na mailing list. Obrigado.
Alberto, deixei-o na mala no início do percurso. Isto é, não abri sequer quando cheguei ao destino. Quanto a deixar o portátil em qualquer sítio do carro, já sabe a minha opinião, pelo menos.

That is sad. I hope you kept backups, but the troubles of losing a laptop is never easy.

Para este computador já não há nada a fazer, para o proximo pensa em investir num seguro (na fnac por exemplo) e num produto parecido com o pgp/whole disk encryption que funcione com o mac OS.
